Aaron Sorkin, the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind ‘The Social Network,’ and Kristin Davis, the erstwhile Charlotte York from ‘Sex and the City,’ stepped out together Thursday night and confirmed what celeb-watchers had suspected for months: the two are dating.

Sorkin, 51, took Davis to the Hollywood premiere of his new show, ‘The Newsroom,’ which debuts Sunday night on HBO. It was their first public outing together, but back in May, a source told E! Online that they’d already been involved for several months.

“They have actually known each other a while through mutual friends and would sometimes bump into one another at industry events, but it has only just turned into something more,” the insider said. “They are really happy.”

Davis isn’t Sorkin’s first actress girlfriend — back in 2005, he had an on-and-off relationship with Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth that lasted two years. And Davis, 47, is a veteran of the Hollywood dating scene herself, having been romantically linked to actors such as Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin and Jeff Goldblum.

‘The Newsroom’ chronicles the behind-the-scenes events at a fictional cable news channel and features an ensemble cast including Jeff Daniels, Olivia Munn and ‘Law & Order’ star Sam Waterston. The formula is a Sorkin favorite — he used it to great effect on his previous shows ‘Sports Night,’ ‘The West Wing’ and ‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.’
