Are Social Issues Important to You In the 2012 Election? — Survey of the Day

Don’t expect the 2012 presidential election to come down social issues.

The Pew Research Center asked 3,008 adults whether or not they rated 18 different “issues” as important to their vote in this November’s election.

The three lowest rated of these issues were social ones — gay marriage (28 percent), birth control (34 percent) and abortion (39 percent)

While gun control was slightly higher at 47 percent, it still rated in the lower half of issues in terms of importance to voters. The two most important issues, not surprisingly, were the economy (86 percent) and jobs (84 percent).
