Rates are going down for customers of the Intermountain Gas Company. The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved a 4.5 percent decrease in rates, effective Feb. 1.  Natural gas prices continue to decline for various reasons, the commission said.

Intermountain Gas Co. has filed a request with state regulators to lower natural gas rates by an average  of 4.5 percent for residential customers. The company filed paperwork with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission last week.

Intermountain Gas Co. plans to reduce its prices by a combined $14.4 million starting in October, citing strong supplies keeping its cost of natural gas down.
