The Filer School District will be starting an education program for students this week on the dangers of “spice.”  Spice, or Hayze, is a mixture of various herbs that can be smoked and it’s caused a couple of serious incidents with students at the Filer High School.

According to the Times News, Filer High School Principal Leon Madsen told the school board recently that there have been two incidents involving “spice” when the district had to call an ambulance for students.  One incident happened at school and one at a game.  The school board has given Madsen the approval to begin a voluntary on-campus drug education program.  The program will begin this week with a presentation from the Filer Police Department.
