Hailey Voters to Decide on $800,000 Tax Levy

HAILEY, Idaho (KLIX) – Hailey voters will decide on Tuesday whether to pass a two-year $800,000 property-tax levy override to upgrade trail connectivity in the city.

According to the Idaho Mountain Express the levy, which the City Council unanimously approved in March to put on the May ballot, would increase property taxes by $48 per year for every $100,000 of property value.

If voters agree, bike and pedestrian paths will be installed on Myrtle Street between Second Avenue and the Wood River Trail, two bike lanes on Croy Street between the Wood River Trail and downtown, and a connector path between Hailey Elementary School and Werthheimer Park.

Mayor Fritz Haemmerle said in March that the levy represents only one piece of the city’s larger capital needs, according to the newspaper.
