UPDATE: Highway 93 between Carey and Arco reopened this morning at around 6 a.m. ITD reminds drivers the road is still covered with snow and ice.

CAREY, Idaho (KLIX) The highway between Carey and Arco has been shut down because of blowing snow near Craters of the Moon National Monument this morning.
According to the Idaho Transportation Department, Highway 93/Highway 26 is closed to through traffic because of drifting snow. Travelers attempting to get to or from eastern Idaho now have few options as Interstate 86 is closed because of flooding at the Raft River. ITD had suggested drivers use the Arco route to get to or from cities in east Idaho. At this time the only option is to take Interstate 84 to Interstate 15. Check 511.idaho.gov for the latest updates on road closures in Idaho.
