National Park Service grants will help preserve two Idaho sites that remind us of a difficult time in our nation's history.  Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar has announced two grants totaling more than $300,000 for preservation and interpretive projects at World War II-era Japanese-American internment sites.  One of those was the Minidoka Relocation Center near Jerome.  The Friends of Minidoka plan to use grant money to reconstruct the guard tower that stood at the entrance to the camp. Another grant will fund an archaeological project at the Kooskia Internment Camp, an all-male camp that housed Japanese-American internees working on highway projects.
