GOP Rep. Phil Hart Loses Re-election Bid

KTVB - A tax-protesting northern Idaho Republican representative has lost in his four-way primary. Rep. Phil Hart was defeated by challenger Ed Morse in Kootenai County's District 2 race. Morse faces Democrat Dan English in November. Hart has been fighting the state and federal government over hundreds of thousands in unpaid income taxes.

Idaho GOP Say Ron Paul Supporters Attempting To Hijack Republican Party

(AP) - It could be an interesting and heated GOP convention in Twin Falls come June.  Some of the state's Republicans are saying Ron Paul backers are attempting to change the result of the presidential candidate's third-place finish in the Idaho caucus by winning enough precinct committee races in the May 15 primary so they can overturn the win by Mitt Romney and award all 32 delegates to Paul.

Idaho GOP Plan Caucus Tweaks

Idaho's Republican Party is celebrating after its first-ever presidential caucus, and what many participants called a very successful event in terms of participation and political relevancy. Despite the event's initial success, party organizers say they'll likely make a number of changes to the caucus in preparation for the 2016 presidential race. Idaho GOP Executive Director Jonathan Parker says there were some growing pains and some kinks that need to be worked through but at the end of the night we were very pleased with the results.

Idaho Caucus Is Tomorrow

Idaho's first Republican presidential caucus is tomorrow as GOP stalwarts choose a challenger for Democratic President Barack Obama come November.

Historically, Idaho held a May GOP presidential primary.  But the state Republican Party this year opted to move up its selection process two full months by joining nine other states holding "Super Tuesday" nominating contests.
