Saturday afternoon, family, friends and a community remembered Army Staff Sergeant Daniel Brown, a Jerome soldier killed by enemy explosives in Afghanistan two weeks ago.  Over a thousand  people gathered with them for his funeral service at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls.  Brown was killed 10 months into deployment.

About 60 Idaho National Guard members  are scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan as part of a Blackhawk helicopter crew that will support Operation Enduring Freedom.  According to Natl. Guard Spokesman Col. Tim Marsano, the citizen soldiers are from the Company A, 1-168 General Support Aviation Battalion based at Gowen Field in Boise.

(AP) - Military officials say the body of U.S. Army soldier from Jerome will be turned over to his family at a private honorable transfer ceremony Friday at Magic Valley Regional Airport in Twin Falls. Twenty-seven-year-old Sgt. Daniel J. Brown died March 24 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan after he was injured when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

The Idaho National Guard announced over the weekend that Two North Idaho soldiers died last Thursday in a roadside bomb attack outside Victory Base Camp in Baghdad.   24 year old Spc. Nathan Beyers from Coeur d'Alene and 20 year old  Spc. Nicholas Newby, also from Coeur d'Alene were killed when insurgents attacked their convoy using an improvised explosive device.
