Once a dog is designated as dangerous or at-risk in accordance with Idaho law, the dog's owner must notify local law enforcement and have the dog chipped. They also must provide law enforcement with a colored picture of the dog and post Beware of Dog signs that are visible from the curb.
While the consequences are bleak, there's a silver lining for dogs who demonstrate good behavior after biting incidents. After a period of two years, the restrictions and requirements imposed by the court will be waived and the dog's status as a threat will be lifted. For more information, see Section 25-2810, Dangerous & At-Risk Dogs.
