This New Idaho Law Just Changed License Plates Forever
You're driving around in the Treasure Valley and come to a stop at the nearest intersection. You look around, you see the cars in front of you and beside you...what do you almost ALWAYS need to solve in this situation?
What on EARTH does that license plate say??
Here in Idaho it seems that we love a vanity plate, or should we say, vanity 'pl8'??
Big changes are officially here, Idaho--and it's changing out license plates forever.
No new designs and no, your vanity characters aren't being touched. A new law is now officially in effect and it's removing a 'step' from vehicle registration.
Each year when you renew your vehicle's registration, you get that slip in the mail that has two small stickers on it. Does ANYONE remember to get those things on? Not to mention, there are waves of 'sticker theft' from folks that want their plats to appear as renewed while on the road.
As of this week: NO. MORE. STICKERS.
One less step for drivers is also going to save Idaho some money.
House Bill 533 is expected to save the State of Idaho around $300,000 annually.
Finally, our legislature has focused on something that isn't a flag?
No action is needed for existing plates--current plates are and will remain, valid! Have stickers you keep forgetting to put on? Toss em!
License plate customization here in Idaho seems to be all the craze for local drivers. Everywhere you look, there is another one!
