Beware of Teens Damaging Property in the Gem State
Winter break has come to an end and kids in the Magic Valley should all be back in school sometime this week. That is good news to residents of the Magic Valley, as over winter break some kids couldn't handle themselves and had to get creative in ways to find entertainment. The problem with how they went about it was that they were breaking the law and destroying people's property. Over this last weekend, an incident took place that had many in the area upset, but it isn't the only occurrence of property damage to take place over the last few weeks.
Teens Destroy Fence in Twin Falls
Over the weekend a post on Magic Valley Rants and Raves made the rounds of teenagers stopping their car, and destroying a fence in the middle of the night. It was all caught on video and showed the kids running full speed through the fence, damaging multiple panels. The video has since been removed but shows the extent that teenagers will go to for entertainment in the Magic Valley, despite being at the expense of someone's property. The boys have been identified, but it is unknown what occurred after or if charges have been pressed. While some chalk it up to kids will be kids, not all adults in the Magic Valley see it this way.
Property Damaged in Twin Falls
Over the Christmas holiday, there were multiple instances of Christmas decorations being broken, including this writer having some of his decorations destroyed. These decorations, as well as the fence from above, cost money, and most are not willing to see their property damaged. While there needs to be more entertainment options in the Magic Valley, teenagers should not be seeking to damage items of residents in the area. There are consequences for these actions, and in Idaho, it only takes one wrong person, and the consequences could be much worse than a simple call to the police.

If you have teenagers who are going out on Friday, Saturday, or during winter, spring, or summer break, make sure to remind them that messing with someone's property will not end well. They will be trespassing, damaging property, and at risk of upsetting the wrong person at the wrong time. With cameras everywhere these days, it isn't like when many of us were kids. They will get caught, and they will pay the price, so don't let them find themselves in the same situation as the teens who destroyed the fence.
