Can’t Wait? It’s Christmas Time Already in the Gem State
With Labor Day over, many will say that summer has come to an end. While unofficially, yes, technically, it will remain summer for a couple more weeks. The first official day of fall isn't until September 22, and there are still some warm days remaining on the calendar. As autumn approaches, the focus for many will turn towards Halloween and getting costumes, decorations, and making things spooky. Fall is one of the best times of the year, and Halloween is one of the best holidays, but some have decided to skip them and begin focusing on Christmas. It may only be September, but Christmas has already begun in the Gem State.
Christmas in September in Idaho
Each year, there is a debate on when the right time is to begin focusing on Halloween and Christmas. Currently, many should be thinking about Halloween if they are focused on a holiday as it is now less than two months away, but some stores are deciding to shift focus to Christmas instead, despite the calendar still saying it is summer. Costco has begun rolling out Christmas decorations, and not only one or two but an entire row of them in their store. When the temperatures in Idaho are still in the 90s and residents are going fishing, camping, kayaking, and swimming, it would seem Christmas isn't on many minds. Despite this, as seen above, the store is already preparing for the holiday season.
When Should Stores in Idaho Start Selling Christmas Decorations?
The debate over the last month or so has been whether it is too soon for Halloween shopping, and if so, when is the right time to begin selling spooky costumes, decorations, and candy? The same can be asked for Christmas. While Christmas is a bigger shopping holiday and some like to spread their money out throughout the year, is September too soon? This writer says yes. Unless things are discounted, there is no reason to be rolling out Christmas decorations four months early. A better time to do so would be November 1, letting shoppers get through Halloween season, and then instantly turn their focus to Christmas for the next two months. Obviously, these stores know more than I, and have a reason for putting things out now, but it didn't appear that many shoppers were buying Christmas decorations this past weekend, despite them being on shelves.

If you are someone who is obsessed with Christmas and can't wait, your time has arrived, and you can begin shopping. Hobby Lobby also offers a wide selection of Christmas decorations, many of which are discounted. Although it may still be months away, Christmas has arrived in Idaho.
