Having car problems is the worst, and it can often break your bank account, as they usually come on unexpectedly and are a payment that you didn't prepare for. Most of us need our vehicles to take our kids to school, run errands, go to work, and to get around. Sometimes, when problems pop up on a car, you let it go to save money, and other issues you get fixed right away, or your car is done for. Did you know there are certain car problems you must get fixed sooner rather than later because they are illegal in Idaho, Washington, and Utah? Not having these car problems fixed could lead to a ticket, and officers may pull you over if they notice them.

This one seems obvious, but if your turn signals aren't working, it is likely going to lead to a ticket as switching lanes becomes more dangerous for you and other drivers. You have to be able to notify drivers when turning or switching lanes, and failure to use a blinker because it isn't working will get you in trouble.

Unreadable License Plates

If your license plate is covered up, too dirty to read, or even if the light is out where officers can't see it at night, you could be pulled over. Most know how to clean their car or remove anything blocking the plate, but not many think to check the light.

Broken or Missing Side Mirrors

This one is similar to the blinker, as the mirror is needed to check around you safely, and being unable to do so puts you and other drivers at risk. If you can't see behind you or to the side of you, it makes you a liability on the road. If yours are broken or missing, get them fixed immediately.

Driving at night, especially on dark country roads without headlights or taillights, makes you an easy target for a wreck. Other vehicles need to see you coming and know when you are stopping. It may seem like a small problem, but it can turn into a big one if not fixed promptly.

Having a loud exhaust will get you in trouble with officers, especially when it is making noise during quiet hours between midnight and 8 AM. This one is harder to detect than others, but is something you should look at getting fixed to save some money from a fine.

If you can't see out of your car clearly, you are a liability on the road and put yourself and others at risk. Windshields can be expensive, but if it is cracked and affects your vision, they need to be repaired sooner rather than later.

Most of these may seem like common sense, yet many drivers put them off because of money, time, or a lack of wanting to get it fixed. If your car has issues with any of the above problems, it is best to get them fixed before adding tickets to your cost, as well as still needing to fix the issue.
