Trader Joe's, the California-based convenience market chain that has operated under the same brand for nearly 60 years, recently announced it will open many more locations nationwide, with a few new markets welcoming customers in Northwestern U.S. cities as soon as this week.

It seems like Trader Joe's comes up whether it's on social media or in a discussion among friends or co-workers anytime a new business opens in the Magic Valley. Idaho has three locations: two in the Boise area and one way up in the panhandle, so residents in Southern Idaho have wanted a location closer to home that doesn't require a four- to five-hour round trip to shop; the downtown Boise store opened in 2014.

The stores have become popular over the years for stocking shelves with heavily self-branded, private-label, lower-priced products, with goods that aren't available at other big-box chains. From frozen foods and flowers to wine and specialty goods, Trader Joe's attracts a whole different type of shopping culture.

New Trader Joe's stores have already opened this month in Utah, Oregon, and California, according to their corporate locations map. Locations in Washington State and Colorado are set to open soon as well.

A West Jordan, Utah, store opens Friday, October 23, just a couple of weeks behind their Herriman location, which already had its grand opening, according to traderjoes.com.

No new Idaho stores were included in the recent announcement, but hopefully someday soon the Magic Valley will get its wish.
