Police in Idaho are investigating a head-on collision in Northern Idaho between a pickup truck and a semi-truck. The deadly accident happened a few minutes before 9:30 on Thursday morning.

The crash involved two vehicles and claimed the life of one of the drivers. Idaho State Police say that the accident happened on State Highway 3 near mile marker 86, near Saint Maries and the St. Joe River.

Fatal Idaho Head-On Collision: Pickup vs Semi Truck

The ISP news release states:

A 65-year-old male from Saint Maries, ID, was driving a 2025 Toyota Tacoma northbound on SH3 when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove left of center.

The vehicle struck a southbound 1990 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by a 48-year-old male from Saint Regis, MT.

The driver of the Tacoma passed away at the scene of the accident.

The Idaho Transportation Department shared details of the accident and traffic delays on social media.

The highway was blocked for about two and a half hours.
