6 More Protestors Arrested at Idaho State Capitol After Hiding in a Bathroom
Two days after nine people were arrested at an after-hours protest at the Idaho State Capitol, the Idaho State Police are reporting more arrests on Friday afternoon. The arrests were not due to the actual protest, but due to protestors blocking themselves in a bathroom and refusing to let others inside.
The report doesn’t specify whether this protest was also over the recently signed into law HB 752, which prohibits people from using the bathrooms in public spaces that don’t align with their biological gender. That law will go into effect on July 1st, 2026.
More Protestors Arrested During Incident at Idaho State Capitol
In the previous protest, which happened on April 1st, nine people were arrested for refusing to leave the Governor’s Office at the Capitol building after business hours. The protest today, Friday, April 3rd, involved 12 people using whistles and bullhorns inside the Idaho State Capitol building. Around 1 PM, troopers responded to the building for a disturbance call. The protestors hid in a bathroom (the report doesn’t say what gender the protestors were or which bathroom they hid in) and blocked the door with their bodies, preventing others from entering.
They were given warnings by the responding Idaho State Police troopers about the disturbance and were trespassed from the building. The group still refused to leave the bathroom or let others in. Troopers were able to gain access to the room and, around 2:40 PM, arrested six people for misdemeanor trespass charges. One of the protestors was also charged with resisting arrest.

One person was reportedly injured during the incident while leaving a bathroom stall. They were taken for medical evaluation at a local hospital before being booked into the Ada County Jail. The Boise Police Department assisted with the transport of the people who were arrested.
The Idaho State Police again clarified that while it is the right of citizens to protest and express their opinions, that does not give anyone the right to break the law. All involved in the incident were adults, and no weapons were reported.
