September and October are big months for high school reunions. I have one coming up in mid-October, and I have absolutely no intention of going. My decision doesn't have anything to do with nerves or not wanting to reconnect with anyone in particular, but apparently many Americans have the same beef about attending reunions, according to an online source.

I graduated a long time ago. I've never attended a single reunion, due in large part to the fact I can barely remember this period of my life. It's just a complete blur.

I loafed through high school and spent the majority of my time watching the classroom clock and screwing around with friends at parties and other outings. I graduated with one of the lowest grade point averages in my class, but somehow excelled in college.

I did some digging on what people fear or loathe the most about attending reunions. A post from just a few days ago to a lifestyle website shared 15 people's different experiences pertaining to reunion horror stories. One thing most of them had in common centered around one person, and in most cases, it was someone that was considered popular by peers.

I played football for a couple of years in high school, which is how I made the majority of my friends. I wasn't popular though, or at least I don't think I was. The 1997 film Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is hilarious if you've never seen it, and is a great example of how one person can make an impact on a fellow classmate that sticks with them for a lifetime.
