
South Idaho Police Still Seek Answers In 2008 Rupert Murder
Southern Idaho detectives are still waiting for a break in a case that involved a couple who were brutally attacked in their home east of Twin Falls 17 years ago. The male homeowner would later pass away from injuries, while his wife survived the assault.
Rupert, Idaho, a city of roughly 6,000 people, is 44 miles east of Twin Falls, and was the site of a horrible crime on the evening of August 2, 2008. The person(s) responsible for the attack still have not faced punishment for the crime.
The quiet community of Rupert was stunned to hear news of an attack in the early morning hours of a summer Saturday. A husband and wife were beaten in the darkness of their own home with an object that has never been retrieved.

José Merced Rodriguez died that evening from severe injuries sustained to the head, according to KTVB 7. Rodriquez was a brother and son. The death has been haunting his family ever since that evening back in 2008.
