Power Rates

Idaho Power Company has asked the Idaho Public Utilities Commission for permission to raise its power rates.  Idaho Power says there are several reasons for a raise in rates including growing energy demands, aging infrastructure and higher compliance requirements.

With prices going up for gas and food, you might have to add your power bill to that list.   Idaho Power Company has filed a request with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission asking for a 9.9 percent increase in the base rate.

The state's largest utility says its customers would get a $40 million break on their power bills as part of a proposal to reduce its rates.  Idaho Power says customer rates would drop by an average of 4.78 percent starting June 1 under the annual power cost adjustment plan it submitted to the state Public Utilities Commission this month...
