10 Things You Might Not Know About Pixar’s ‘Cars’
While Cars would eventually come to be about hotshot racing car Lightning McQueen, Cars was originally titled “The Yellow Car” and was going to be about an electric car living in a gas-guzzling world. This is just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which speeds off with Cars!
The computers used to create Cars were 1,000 times faster than the ones used to create Toy Story, Pixar’s first film. But despite this increase is processor power, it took those computers over 17 hours to process each frame of the film. At an average of 24 frames-per-second in a 116-minute film, that would take approximately 5.5 million hours to process the entire film. (Luckily they had a lot of those computers all working at once otherwise it would’ve taken 229,166 days (or 627 years) to finish the movie.
