(KLIX)-The state of Idaho has gotten a settlement check from the makers of the drug Vioxx. The Idaho Attorney General’s office announced Merck paid the state a little more than $285-thousand dollars in a settlement. The suit settled allegations that Merck marketed Vioxx for uses not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. They say it misrepresented the cardiovascular safety issues related to the drug. The Attorney General alleged Merck made false representations having to do with the safety of the drug. Part of the money has gone back to Idaho’s Medicaid Program while the rest will go into the general fund.
