MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (AP) — Tourists, school groups and history fans will soon be able to visit a historic site along the Oregon Trail after the owners have donated it to the Bureau of Land Management.

KTVB-TV reports that the Norstebon family has donated the Canyon Creek Station in Elmore County to the agency. The site, located along the Oregon trail Scenic Byway in Mountain Home, was a resting place for travelers and later a stage coach station.

With the donation, the BLM and the Idaho Heritage trust can work to restore the station to its original state. Officials say they hope to return it to what it looked like in the 1870s.
