For years and years and years Boise was at the top of every list for safest cities in America. You walk around boys see most of the time and you don't have a care in the world. Of course it is important to know that you are never completely safe no matter where you are but still Boise had a very safe atmosphere.

Unfortunately over the past couple of weeks some major crimes have happened to change people's minds. With both major crimes happening on the Boise Greenbelt many people have started to feel unsafe while going on their daily walks, runs, or bike rides. Considering things like this don't happen in Boise very often it's gotten a lot of people talking online.

The online discussions about how safe Boise is have been quite surprising. Most of the time people talk about moving to Boise because of how safe it is and wanting that for themselves. However, some people are online talking about how they never really felt safe here. A lot of people have been saying the Boise Greenbelt was never safe while others say it's perfectly safe but you should be careful at night.

The city of Boise and the Boise Police Department put out a list of safety tips for people who are extra nervous during this time. They have also announced that there will be extra Patrol on the Greenbelt to prevent more crimes from happening.

@isarodrigue.z The recent murder on the Boise Greenbelt is absolutely heartbreaking. In my opinion, the changes Idaho has experienced over the years have made places that once felt safe feel different. As a woman, I no longer feel comfortable walking the Greenbelt alone. My prayers are with the victim and their family. #idaho #boisegreenbelt #boiseriver #boise #california ♬ original sound - Flower
