7 Events Happening the First Weekend of August in the Magic Valley
The weather is finally cooling down, which makes getting out of the house a little more bearable this weekend. Summer is winding down, and soon school will be starting back up, meaning there are only a few more weekends to enjoy until it does. Take advantage of the final weekends of summer and get out of the house and have fun before the days in front of the television watching football begins. There are plenty of events taking place this weekend around the Magic Valley to get you out of the home, and here are some of the ones you won't want to miss.
Thursday, August 3 Through Saturday, August 5 - Minidoka County Fair and Rodeo
Fair season is here, and over the next month, fairs will be happening all over Southern Idaho. This week the Minidoka County Fair and Rodeo are taking place. The last three days of the fair will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and with buildings being open from 10 AM to 10 PM Thursday and Friday and from 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturday. The open rodeo will be Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:30 PM with tickets being $10 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 12, and children 6 and under being free. Saturday, August 5 - Twin Falls Farmers Market
Going to a farmers market is a great way to start a weekend, to load up on fresh fruit, vegetables, and other handmade items in the area. It helps to shop locally and you never know what you can find. The Twin Falls Farmers Market takes place from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays in the Magic Valley Mall parking lot, making it easy to stop by, get what you need, and continue running errands or getting some lunch. Saturday, August 5 - Market on Main
If you happen to be near downtown Saturday morning, make sure to stop by the market there, as Market on Main takes place from 9 AM to 2 PM on Main Street in downtown Twin Falls. This market is great as you can do some browsing around downtown while shopping at the market, or stop by one of the many eating establishments for lunch or a snack. Saturday, August 5 - Back to School Bash
School is just around the corner and now is the time to get supplies and to celebrate the end of summer. Amazing Grace Fellowship in Twin Falls will be holding its Back to School Bash this Saturday from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. They will be giving school supplies to 300 kids, as well as to 15 teachers at Bickel Elementary. The bash will have carnival games, snow cones, face painting, and lunch. Saturday, August 5 - Magic Valley Beer Festival
If you enjoy a nice cold beer on a warm summer day, you are in luck as the Magic Valley Beer Festival is taking place this Saturday. The festival will be in Twin Falls City Park and be from 1 PM to 6 PM, with tickets being $30 per person. That ticket gets you 15 generous-sized samples of beer as well as access to food vendors and the silent auction. There will be live music and a fun time to be had this weekend. Saturday, August 5 - Movie Matinee
Watching a movie with the family is a great way to spend a Saturday, but pending on how many family members you have going, the movies can get rather pricey. Instead of spending too much money on a movie, how about going to the Twin Falls Public Library and enjoying a free moving with Movie Matinee from 3 PM to 5 PM. Sunday, August 6 - Sunday Make Break
Sometimes you need a break from being home with the kids, and one of the best ways is to let them do arts and crafts for free.
