Town in the Magic Valley Should Be Punished for Bad Behavior
Owning a pet is a big responsibility. You have to feed it, love it, train it, find care for it when you are out of town, and continue to do all these things for many years. Owning a pet is no easy task, and it can be stressful at times. They can be destructive, loud, annoying, and make your house stink. Despite all the negatives, many still love their pets, and wouldn't want to do life without them. One major part of owning a pet is keeping it safe and having a place for it to call home, but from time to time the animals will get out. It happens, but should it happen as frequently as it does in one Magic Valley town? Should residents in this town be punished for not doing what they need to do, and letting the same issue occur over and over?
Dogs Running Wild in Buhl
Dogs get out from time to time everywhere, but in Buhl lately, it seems to be a major issue. In the last week, there have been a handful of dogs running wild through farms, and through town. They are making their way into backyards, front yards, garages, and approaching strangers and other dogs. It makes it unsafe for others to walk their dogs, and how long until a child outside gets attacked by an aggressive dog? Some residents are afraid to take their pets out or go for walks because the issue has gotten so bad. Over the weekend, my family and I witnessed multiple occurrences of dogs roaming the street, and some of them not looking friendly. It is a concern that needs to be addressed in the town of Buhl.
Punishment for Dogs Escaping in Buhl
Owners usually pay the price when their dog gets out. There is a fee to pay if they have gotten picked up, or in the worst-case scenario, something happens to the pet, and the owner is left heartbroken. There should be a three-strike rule in the Magic Valley. If a dog gets out once, it can be deemed an accident, but by the third time, something isn't working at home. A fence needs to be repaired, a door needs to be shut, or a dog needs to be fenced in that isn't as trained as an owner thinks. If a person is unable to contain their dog, they likely shouldn't have one. I have had dogs my entire life and can count on one hand how many times one of mine has gotten out. It shouldn't be happening as much as it is in Buhl, especially with the same dogs.
As long as nobody is getting hurt, likely nothing will be done. How many attacks would it take to begin punishing the owners who can't contain their pets at home? Does a child need to be attacked? Does someone's dog need to be attacked? It is happening too frequently, and if something isn't done to contain it, then it is only a matter of time until something bad happens, either to the innocent pets or to someone else.
