Preparing for the Most Annoying Time of the Year in Idaho
The weather has begun to change, and while it yo-yos over the next few weeks, there will be a mix of hot days, still holding on to summer, and cooler days, giving hope of the fall season ahead. It is a confusing time of year, trying to figure out what to wear day-to-day, but it is also an exciting time of year as fall, for many, is their favorite season. While many good things happen this time of year, it is also one of the most annoying times, mainly due to one factor that makes people a little crazy in Idaho.
The Most Annoying Time in Idaho
This time of year should be the greatest time to be in the Gem State. Fairs are happening, the weather is cooling off, Boise State football is back, and soon corn and hay mazes, hayrides, spooky attractions, and more will begin. There is only one thing that stops this time of year from being perfect and that is that flies are taking over homes and offices all across the state. As the weather drops off and on, these annoying insects are looking for a place to escape and stay warm, and they are finding it in homes, office buildings, and sometimes in your vehicles. It can drive people nuts, but these aren't the same flies that have been around all summer, they are worse.
So Many Flies in Idaho
Many may not be aware of it but flies get bigger the further down the line they get. When flies first return in the spring, they are annoying, but typically they are more on the smaller side. Over time and as each generation is born through the summer and into early fall, they get bigger. You may notice that flies in your home today are significantly larger than the ones that took over your home. They are louder, bigger, and seem to be more annoying as well. When they get into your vehicle, it can cause wrecks if you try to kill them while driving and puts you at risk behind the wheel. In your office, they can make you want to stand up and yell, 'I quit.' At home, it is a constant warzone, and it seems as if each fly dies, and another three respawn in its place.
Eventually, the cold will swoop in and knock out these annoying pests, but for now, they are bigger and more annoying than ever. Make sure to keep your doors and windows shut if you don't have a screen to keep them out. Have a fly-swatter nearby, because odds are you are going to need it often. Outside of the flies, this fall should be a pleasant one and live up to being the best time of the year, so long as these bugs don't take all of your patience and joy.
