Recap of Fatal Accidents on Idaho Roadways Over the Weekend

Idaho roadways saw multiple fatal accidents over the weekend, resulting in the tragic loss of several precious lives. The following are details of the incidents as reported by the Idaho State Police (ISP).

Single-Vehicle Crash in Gooding County Claims Juvenile

On September 8, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Idaho State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Gooding County. The crash occurred at 2300 East 3300 South.

A female juvenile from Twin Falls was driving eastbound in a 2001 GMC Jimmy when she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over. She was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries later that same day. My heart goes out to her family.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on US 95 Near Riggins

Another tragic incident occurred on September 8, 2024, when Idaho State Police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on US 95 near milepost 213, just outside of Riggins.

A 52-year-old male and a 51-year-old female, both from White Bird, Idaho, were traveling northbound on a motorcycle when they crossed left of center, veered off the roadway, and crashed into the hillside. Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a helmet.

Both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, which is ongoing.

Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Fatality on I-84 in Ada County

On September 7, 2024, at 2:51 a.m., a fatal collision occurred on Interstate 84 at milepost 46 in Ada County. The incident involved a pedestrian and a vehicle traveling westbound.

A 23-year-old male from Nampa, Idaho, was crossing the westbound lanes of I-84 when he was struck by a grey 2011 Subaru Impreza driven by a 30-year-old male, also from Nampa. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru was not injured and remained at the scene. The two left lanes of Interstate 84 were blocked for approximately four hours.
