WATCH: Cows Fall Out of Trailer on Interstate South of Idaho

It is no secret that there are more cows in the Gem State than people. Idaho is made up of many farms, and despite what people think, it isn't only potatoes in the state. There are other crops, there are farm animals, and there is far more than one item in the state. These cows play a major factor in the delicious local ice cream sold here, the fresh milk residents buy, and sadly, also the smells that can often overtake your nostrils. These animals have to be moved from time to time, and typically that involves moving them in a trailer. When things go wrong, like a door isn't latched or an animal is loose in the trailer, then sometimes you end up with cows on the road in Idaho.

One fear for farmers moving their cattle is if something like the video above were to happen. Imagine going down the interstate and a cow falls out of a trailer in front of you, or if you are the farmer, you see one of yours has taken a tumble on the road. It is putting the cow at risk, drivers at risk, and losing the farmer's money if taking it to be sold and something happens to it. Worse, what if then another one falls out, and a third? Soon it is a nightmare and chaos on the interstate. Luckily, the video above took place in Oklahoma and not in the Gem State, but it is likely something similar has happened a few times before in Idaho. 

Cows Loose on the Interstate in Idaho

If something like this were to happen, how should the situation be handled? The most important thing is to make sure everyone is safe and that cars are not swerving and ending up in a wreck to avoid the cattle, but also the cows need to be taken care of as well. In the video above, the second one that falls out appears to be hurt as it is having issues standing, possibly resulting in a broken leg. While it makes for an entertaining video, the animals likely will need to be put down, although it was possibly headed to be a hamburger soon anyway.

Some will find the video above sad, and others will find it funny, but if this were to happen in front of you on the road it would be a frightening situation, and a story to tell your friends and family.
