What would you do? What would you do if you had a neighbor up all night partying, playing loud music, and keeping you awake? Would you let it slide one or two times? Would you reach out to local officials and notify them your neighbor is disturbing the peace? Would you confront the neighbor yourself? Would you move out and find a new place to live? We have all had bad neighbors before, and handling them can be an awkward situation, but if you had one that was up all night and keeping you awake as well, what would you do?

Everyone has had a bad neighbor from time to time. It can be someone in an apartment complex who walks heavily and lives above you, it can be someone who blasts their music or can be a neighbor that has too many cars at the house next door. Handling these situations can be awkward and tough. When they are disturbing the peace, calling the cops is an easy solution, but it risks making your neighbor upset and dealing with them moving forward and holding that grudge against you. Ignoring them can be tough, because they will continue to do so, thinking nothing is wrong. Confronting them yourself can be uneasy, and let the neighbor know that you are the one who is trying to shut down their fun.

Depending on the problem may depend on how you want to handle a bad neighbor in the Gem State. If a neighbor is throwing a party and is being loud and keeping people up, it can be disruptive to sleep, not only for you but for other neighbors as well. If they do this every weekend or consistently, it is a major issue that needs to be addressed, but if it is a holiday weekend, or happens rarely like a birthday celebration, it might be best to let it slide for a night. If they are trashing their home and lowering the value of your neighborhood, or parking cars all over the street that affect you parking around your home, this too needs to be addressed. Each issue needs to be handled separately, but make sure to not try to parent them and control their lives, as it can make living next to them uncomfortable for you and them.
