What would you do? What would you do if you could choose one professional sports team to come to the Gem State? Which sport would you choose? There are many options, and there are arguments to be made for each professional league, but if you could bring one type of professional sport to Idaho, which one would you choose?

Sports Teams in Idaho

When it comes to having a professional sports team in Idaho, any sport would be a great addition to the state, but if given the choice, which sport would Idaho want the most? Due to location, hockey is a big deal in Idaho and would make plenty of sense. It could be played year-round, and Boise has proven it can support a minor league team, so why couldn't it support a professional team? Imagine having the Stanley Cup come to the Gem State. If hockey isn't for you, what about a football team? Boise State has proven that fans will support football in the Gem State, and a professional team would be a welcomed addition. These two make the most sense and have track records as sports that are supported in Idaho, but they aren't the only options. 

Professional Sports in Idaho

With little league baseball being so popular in Idaho, a Major League Baseball team would make plenty of sense in Idaho. With the season taking place mostly in summer, it would be a great way to get out and enjoy the warmer months in Idaho. The beginning and end of the season could have snow, which would be an issue, but odds are baseball would be supported well. Soccer is growing in the United States and small markets like Portland and Salt Lake City have proven that they can support soccer, which raises the question, why couldn't Boise do the same? The final option would be an NBA team. With the sport taking place through the winter, it could make it tough for fans to get to games, depending on the snowfall. It would be nice to have a place to go and be warm while getting out of the house in winter, making a case for a basketball team.

There can be a case made for every sport, but which one you enjoy the most and would enjoy going to the most would likely be the right choice. As much as people would enjoy a professional football team, would the short season dictate choosing a sport that lasts longer and gives more games to attend?
