Authorities in Idaho have now charged the driver who it is believed caused a deadly crash last week that killed 6 people and injured 10 others.

Driver in Idaho Falls Accident Charged With Felony Vehicular Manslaughter

The driver has been charged with 6 counts of felony vehicular manslaughter in Bonneville County. The accident happened on Saturday, May 18th on US 20 at milepost 308. The driver of a Dodge Ram, 26-year-old Luis Garcia-Diaz, was injured when his vehicle crashed into a Chevy passenger van. 6 people in the van were found dead and 10 others were injured.

Idaho State Police continue to investigate the accident. They are working to determine the immigration status of Garci-Diaz. Diaz was released from the hospital Friday and subsequently arrested by troopers and booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

Those injured or killed in the van during the crash are believed to be agricultural workers from Mexico in the US on Temporary Agricultural Worker visas, based on info from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico. ISP is working to confirm these details.

The charging documents against Luis Garcia-Diaz can be seen online through the iCourt system. Search for Garcia-Diaz, Luis to get the results. Diaz was also recently charged with an infraction for driving without a license on May 1st.
