This Blows: 50 MPH Strong Winds Slamming Southern Idaho

Not that there ever isn't any wind in Idaho, but the system coming through Monday is extra strong.

Southern Idaho cities have been issued Weather Alerts for wind and flooding.

Weather Alert: Wind Advisory and Flooding for Southern Idaho Cities

Across Southern Idaho, Wind Advisories have been issued from up in Boise down to Twin Falls. The wind will be continuously strong around 25 to 35 miles per hour with strong gusts up to 50 miles per hour expected.

Precautions should be taken to secure loose items in yards. Tree limbs could be blown down and power outages are possible.

The advisory began at noon on Monday and will stay in effect until midnight. The areas affected by the wind alert are:

• Upper Treasure Valley
• Western Magic Valley
• Southern Twin Falls County

While the western portion of Southern Idaho is dealing with the wind, other parts of Southern Idaho are under a River Flood Warning. The Portneuf River in Pocatello and the surrounding area are seeing minor flooding now and significant flooding is expected over the next few days. The advisory is in effect until further notice.

The flood stage on the Portneuf is 8.5 feet and current levels are around 9.7 and expected to reach near 10 feet.
