If you didn’t know the summer Olympics are starting soon, you aren’t alone. I had to look up the start date this morning and to verify where they were happening.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will take place in Paris starting this week on July 26th with the opening ceremony that evening. There will be around 10,500 athletes competing in 39 different sports and 329 events. Of all those athletes and events, how many will have a Californian competing and what are the chances they win?

What Are the Chances Someone From CA Wins a Medal at the Olympics?

There will be a lot of winners at the Paris Summer Olympics, but there will be even more who lose. That’s the way competition goes and the competition is strong in the Olympics. California is being represented by more than 60 of the world’s best athletes according to Visit California. Historically, California performs extremely well at the Olympics, with more gold medal wins than any other state, even more than all the other western states combined.
