
Driver From Washington Killed, Other Injured in Idaho Accident With Semi-Truck
A serious and deadly head-on accident in central Idaho claimed the life of one driver and sent another driver with severe injuries to the hospital. Both drivers were from Washington State.
The Idaho State Police reported on the accident and shared details of the crash. ISP is investigating the accident.
Washington Driver Killed in Idaho Highway Accident With Semi-Truck
The deadly accident involved three vehicles and happened around 1:30PM at the intersection of Highway 95 and Highway 66 in Latah County, north of Moscow, on January 7th. Idaho State Police shared the following regarding the accident and the vehicles involved:
- A brown 2010 Toyota Venza was driving eastbound on Highway 66 and made a right turn to drive southbound on Highway 95. A 2009 Peterbilt semi-truck hauling cargo was traveling southbound on Highway 95.
- The semi-truck made emergency maneuvers to avoid striking the vehicle, briefly swerving into the northbound left turn lane.
- The trailer of the semi-truck struck the Toyota Venza, causing it to lose control and strike the guardrail on the southbound shoulder of the highway. The Toyota Venza then rebounded off the guard rail, crossed left of center into northbound traffic, and struck a white 2022 Ram 2500 pickup truck head-on.
The Peterbilt was driven by a 56-year-old male from Idaho. The Toyota was driven by a 70-year-old female from Palouse, Washington. The Dodge was driven by a 57-year-old male from Otis Orchards, Washington.
The Peterbilt driver was not injured in the accident. The female driver passed away at the scene of the crash and the driver of the Dodge was taken to a hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.
