Another tragic accident has happened in Southern Idaho. Tuesday afternoon a juvenile driver was killed in an accident involving a train in Payette County, Idaho near the Oregon border.

The Idaho State Police reported the fatal accident Tuesday evening in an email release and in a post on their blog:

Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on August 8, 2023 at 3:02pm at NW 10th Avenue and Washoe Road, in Payette County.

A juvenile, driving a 2011 Mazda 6, was traveling eastbound on NW 10th Avenue and failed to yield to an oncoming train and was struck.

The juvenile was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

There have been a few vehicle accidents with juvenile pedestrians and drivers in the last few weeks. On Sunday evening a child was struck by a Jeep in Canyon County. Also in Canyon County, a teen driver was involved in an accident that resulted in the death of another juvenile passenger. In early June a juvenile was killed near a school in Jerome when the child ran into the street and was struck by a Jeep driven by an elderly woman.
