LOOK: What is Happening at the Twin Falls Courthouse, Jail, and Annex?
Construction is underway in Twin Falls across the street from the City Park. But there is confusion about what is being done. Is the construction adding to the courthouse, jail, or judicial building?
Keep reading to find out the plans for the area and to see pictures of what the finished project should look like.
Construction at the Twin Falls County Courthouse Judicial Annex
The groundbreaking for the construction began in late October, but crews have been prepping the land since at least January of 2023. The project is a new 2-story 70 thousand-square-foot addition to the judicial annex. From the street, it may not look like much, but in this before and after picture you can see how far back they have torn down the old building. 2 large trees on the southwest side have also been removed.
Some residents have voiced concerns online that there are changes being made to the historic Twin Falls County Courthouse. That isn’t true. There are also no changes to the jail. This current project is only to update and add courtroom and office space and a new entrance on the west side of the building. The pictures below show the current progress and what the annex will look like when finished.

The annex being worked on was an addition from 1998. The land was once the location of the original High School and then O'Leary Jr. High before the annex and jail were built.
