Natural Gas Leak Closes Streets South of Twin Falls
The gas leak is between Earl Drive and Orchard Drive off of Washington Street near the Swensen's grocery store. Twin Falls Police are calling the event 'Urgent' as there is a very possible danger to residents in the area. Safety guidelines are listed below.
I live in the area and I can hear the sound of the leak, it sounds like rushing water from a river or the Shoshone Falls when they are roaring in the early spring. No evacuation has been issued at this time, but if you live in the area the police have issued a few requests for safety reasons.
They ask that residents stay home and shelter in place, turn off natural gas appliances and pilot lights, avoid smoking or anything that causes a spark, and to avoid using electronics or anything that could cause an electric charged spark.
The Twin Falls Fire Department is also on the scene.
This is an ongoing issue and further information and guidance will be given by the police, so make sure to follow or check their social media. Emergency Responders are on the scene with utility companies to address the issue.
Stay safe and stay inside tonight.
