Fatal Head-On Collision Claims Male Driver's Life In Northern Idaho

Idaho State Police are investigating 2 fatal accidents that happened over the weekend in Idaho.

A male driver was killed in a head-on collision in Northern Idaho and a child passenger was killed in an accident in Southern Idaho.

Male Driver From Idaho Killed After Accident With Female Driver From Washington

Sunday afternoon, around 3:46, Idaho State Police were called to respond to a multi-vehicle accident on State Highway 53 west of Rathdrum in Northern Idaho. The accident happened near milepost 5 in Kootenai County. According to the police report:

A 25-year-old male, from Post Falls, Idaho, was driving a blue 1994 Ford Bronco, eastbound on State Highway 53 when he went left of center and entered the westbound lane. A 24-year-old female, from Spokane Valley, Washington, driving a 2009 Toyota Camry, was traveling westbound on State Highway 53. The Ford Bronco struck the Toyota Camry head-on.
The driver of the Ford Bronco was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the Bronco was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Toyota Camry was wearing her seatbelt and was transported to the hospital via ground ambulance.

The crash blocked the highway for about 2 hours and is being investigated by ISP.

Juvenile Killed in Car Accident in Southern Idaho

Idaho State Police are investigating a tragic accident that happened Saturday afternoon around 2:50. The crash occurred on I84 at milepost 83 in Elmore County. According to the police report, the accident was caused by a tire that blew out:

A 45-year-old male from Filer, was traveling westbound on Interstate 84 in a 2003 Ford Expedition when the rear passenger side tire blew. The vehicle exited the roadway off the right shoulder, rolled, and came to rest in a field.
There were six occupants in the vehicle; three adults and three juveniles. One of the juveniles succumbed to injuries at the scene. Three of the occupants were transported via air ambulance to a local hospital. The other two were transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital.
