WATCH: New Eruption Recorded at Biscuit Basin in Yellowstone National Park
It isn’t just tourons and bison that throw tantrums in Yellowstone National Park. One of the many tourist attractions described as a ‘large murky blue pool’ has just experienced a second notable eruption in less than a year.
The pool is the same one that displayed a massive and unexpected eruption last year, forcing the closure of the entire area of the park.
Minor Eruption Recorded at Biscuit Basin in Yellowstone National Park
The eruption was caught on video thanks to a camera that was installed after the massive eruption in July of 2024. The camera feed can be seen online, but it only posts a static picture every 15 minutes. The full video is kept by the park for later review as needed. You can see the video below, along with video of the blast from 2024.
On July 23rd, 2024, a massive explosion in Biscuit Basin happened at the Black Diamond Pool. The eruption shot hundreds of feet into the air, and a nearby boardwalk was destroyed. Since then, Biscuit Basin has been closed to the public.
Check out the crazy video of the eruption below.

The National Park Service hasn’t updated the page for Black Diamond Pool and still lists the latest eruption as happening in 2016.
Some believe Yellowstone National Park is a ticking time bomb and that the Yellowstone Caldera is only a matter of a few earthquakes away from blowing. An article from NBC Montana says there were 119 earthquakes in the area last month.
