Kickstarter To Fund Snake River Canyon Jump In September Has Launched
Evel Knievel's attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon on September 8, 1974 was one of the most important events in the history of Twin Falls. It forever cemented southern Idaho into pop culture lore. Now, finally, there is an official jump attempt scheduled to try and do what Evel could not do. A Kickstarter campaign has launched - no rocket pun intended - to help make that happen.
Scott Truax is the son of the original engineer, Robert Truax, who helped design the steam engine that powered Evel Knievel's Skycycle. He is working with stuntman, Eddie Braun, to build another one using much of the same technology. Scott was kind enough to share some photos with me of the rocket and the ramp that Eddie will use.
The target date of the Snake River Canyon jump is Saturday, September 17.
There is an opportunity now for believers in this attempt to be a part of it. Team Evel Spirit has launched a Kickstarter campaign with different levels of reward for your investment. One of the more interesting tiers include having your name on the rocket for $500 or more. You can even get exclusive access to the team the day of the launch attempt and VIP after party invites with celebrities for $2,000 or more.
