TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- The date to jump the Snake River Canyon is set for mid-September.

The Hollywood stuntman Eddie Braun made the announcement on the Facebook page Return to The Snake River Monday. The day will be September 17 just east of the Hansen Bridge. Braun teamed up with Scott Truax, whose father Robert Truax helped design and build the original Skycycle for daredevil Evel Knievel.

Knievel had attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon in 1974 in Twin Falls, but he never made it to the other side. Return to Snake River hopes to accomplish that this year. Originally numerous groups had vied to gain approval from the Twin Falls City Council to use the original jump site west of Shoshone Falls along the Snake River Canyon a couple years ago. Scott Truax and partners decided to abandon that effort and instead set up a launch site to the east next to a farm field.

According to a post by Braun, there will be a limit to how many will be able to watch the event from the site. However, people will be able to view the jump online for a fee. The Return to Snake River set up a Kick Starter page to help fund the event. It has more information on their plans.
