SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a man was shot and killed by officers after a confrontation with Sandpoint Police and Bonner County deputies.

The Spokesman-Review reports the shooting happened about 3 p.m. Tuesday in Sandpoint. Few details were available. Kootenai County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Stu Miller says the man's identity will be released after an autopsy has been completed.

The shooting will be investigated by the Region-One Critical Incident Response Team, led by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.
