The merger of St. Lukes Health System and St. Benedicts Family Medical Center in Jerome almost seems like a foregone conclusion.  However, it’s not really known yet if it is indeed fact.

The St. Luke’s Health System board of directors met Tuesday to discuss the merger.  Board approval is all that is needed now for the  merger to take place.  The Times News is reporting today that as of Wednesday evening, St. Luke’s hospital officials would neither confirm nor deny that the board had come to a decision on the merger.  It was hoped by hospital officials that  the merger would be completed by Oct. 1.  The board was waiting for letters of support from several areas.  As for a  new name after the merger…St. Luke’s Jerome seems to be one of the favored options.
