An Idaho soldier being held captive in the Afghan war has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. A promotion certificate was presented to the parents of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl at the family's home near Hailey earlier this week. Bergdahl went missing from his base in southern Afghanistan in June 2009. He is the only American soldier being held in the war. While it's unclear where the 25-year-old soldier is being held, a video released on the Internet last month shows him standing next to a senior official in the al-Qaida-linked Haqqani network in Paktika province in Afghanistan. Idaho National Guard spokesman Col. Tim Marsano says this is Bergdahl's second promotion since he was taken captive. He was promoted to the rank of specialist in June 2010.
