Schools Will Soon Get Laptops
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A mix of large and small school districts will be first in line when Idaho starts phasing in laptops for every 9th through 12th grader. The list obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press includes big districts like Meridian and Boise in southwest Idaho, though they'll be limited on how many high schools get the computer devices. Also making the cut were smaller districts such as Culdesac in the north and Kimberly in the south.
The state Department of Education has selected a total of 32 districts, allowing up to 47 high schools to participate when the laptops start going to students in 2013. The devices will first go to every high school teacher this fall, under reforms championed by schools chief Tom Luna.
