Flu Season

One of the dead was a Twin Falls County woman, and both tested positive for the virus known to lead to COVID-19.

The office of the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare has confirmed the first pair of flu-related deaths for the 2019-2020 flu season.

Public health officials say a 50-year-old north Idaho woman died recently due to influenza, the first reported flu-related death in the state this season.

The IDHW is urging anyone with symptoms including a fever, sore throat and persistent cough, to stay home and contact a health provider.

Nine people in the Magic Valley have died this season due to the flu, according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

North Valley Academy will close this Thursday and Friday so it can disinfect the school before allowing students and staff back into the building on Monday.

Due to recurring illnesses among teachers and students, Camas County Schools will cancel class Thursday and Friday for recovery and disinfectant purposes.
