How much would you pay for a 50 year old pony? Well, here's what Ford wants you to pay.

All prices are base retail. They also include a $825 Destination & Delivery Charge and Manual Transmission. 6 Speed Automatic is a premium upgrade for 2015.

  • Mustang V6 Fastback (050A) – $24,425
  • Mustang V6 Fastback (051A) – $25,420
  • Mustang ECOBOOST Fastback (200A): $29,995
  • Mustang ECOBOOST Fastback (201A): $31,790
  • MUSTANG GT Fastback (300A) – $32,925
  • MUSTANG GT Premium Fastback (400A) – $36,100
  • MUSTANG GT Premium Fastback (401A) – $38,720
  • MUSTANG GT 50YR Limited Edition (500A) – $46,995
  • Mustang V6 Convertible – N/A
  • MUSTANG ECOBOOST Convertible – N/A
  • MUSTANG GT Convertible – N/A

$24,425 isn't a bad price for a base 2015 V6 Mustang. That's a lot of ponies, and a helluva lot of fun for $24K.

The 2015 Mustang has been re-designed from the wheels up, and retains nothing from the previous generation, except that vaguely catfish-like lip on the grill (does anyone else see that? It's like looking down the gullet of a Wels Catfish).

On the other end of the spectrum, the price of a limited edition 2015 50th Anniversary Oxford While Mustang ($46,995) might scare some, but remember that there are only going to be 1,964 of the Mustangs--that’s essentially a fully loaded GT--produced. The LE 50th cars are also the only 2015 Mustangs being offered with an automatic transmission.

Under the Hood

The base V6 Mustang is rocking the same engine as the 2014 Mustang V6. And that's not a bad thing. It's a 3.7-liter V-6 engine generating 305 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 280 lb.-ft. of torque (my '96 V6 Mustang only has 150 pony power).

The Ford ECOBOOST engine is a bit of a different beast. The new 2.3-liter EcoBoost, producing more than 305 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque and with projected class-leading fuel efficiency. So it sounds like a V6 that gets better gas mileage.

And for those that need a little more, there's the upgraded 5.0-liter V8, generating more than 420 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. Zoom, indeed.

Can I Put The Top Down?

Interestingly, no.

For a car that was supposedly "designed to be a convertible," there are no Mustang convertibles for sale... as of right now. There will be, just not right now.

Also noticably missing from Ford's list are an SVT Cobra, and a GT350/500. I'm certain we'll see some variation of those, but as of right now they are a no show.

50 Years of Pony Power

It isn't quite the $2,000 you would have paid for a Mustang in 1964, but times they are a changin'. Are you planning on ordering a new Pony, or waiting to see what else Ford offers during the 50th anniversary year?

Me? I'm gonna drop the top in my 1996 Mustang V6 Convertible and go for a cruise. Wanna go?
