TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) A Twin Falls car dealership is using the sun to power lights and buildings on its lot. On Friday, owner Gregg Middlekauff of Middlekauff Automotive Group flipped the switch on a newly installed solar panel system mounted to the top of the dealerships building.

The entire roof is covered with solar panels installed by Evengreen Technology of Meridain. The lot lights have also been retrofitted to feature lower cost LED lighting.

"Our Motivation for upgrading to solar technology was far more than financial." said Middlekauff in a prepared statement. "Because of our history and long-term commitment to the Magic Valley, it is another way we promise to continue offering superior value and service for the customer, but also to this community we call home."

The 175 kilowatt solar system is expected to offset 3,574 pounds of carbon according to the company. The solar panels will also have the added benefit of shading the building rooftops and save on cooling costs.
