AARP: Idaho Near Bottom in Affordability and Access to Care for Disabled and Elderly
According to the first ever national study on the issue, the AARP says Idaho gets high marks for providing home and community based services..ranked 8th in the nation. The state is also ranked 6th in the nation of providing support to caregivers, who are often times family members. However, the Gem State ranks near last in the nation, failing when it comes to affordability and access, with an overall ranking of 48th, last in the nation for providing resources to help people find the long-term care they need, and 47th for the low level of disabled and people with low-incomes who receive help from Medicaid. Jim Wordelman, State Director for AARP in Idaho says the report shows that Idaho still has some work to do.
